David Walton

Praised for his “clean, clear voice,” David Walton dazzles stages across the country to critical acclaim, as “the sweetest singing of the evening”. Recent roles include  Ramiro  in  La  Cenerentola  with Virginia Opera, Almaviva in Francesa Zambello’s new production of Il barbiere di Siviglia with the Glimmerglass Festival, Tonio in La fille du régiment with Opera Carolina, and Ernesto in Don Pasquale with Minnesota Opera. Other company appearances include Fort Worth Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Livermore Valley Opera, Union Avenue Opera,  and  Madison  Opera.  An  upcoming  production  of  Harvey Milk with Opera Parallèle in San Francisco will feature David singing the role of Dan White. He was a Resident Artist with Minnesota Opera for two seasons, singing Tamino in Die Zauberflöte and Tybalt in Roméo et Juliette. He sang multiple world premieres like Manchurian Candidate, The Shining, Dinner at Eight, and The Fix as a part of Minnesota Opera’s New Works Initiative. David also participated as a Young Artist with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and the Glimmerglass Festival. As a concert soloist, he has performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra,  Indianapolis  Chamber  Orchestra,  South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, the Reno Philharmonic, and the Minnesota Bach Ensemble. Awards include the Sullivan Foundation Grant, 2nd place and Italian Diction Award in the Marcello Giordani International  Vocal  Competition  and  2nd  place  and  Audience Choice Award in the  Opera  Birmingham  Competition.  David  also sang with Cantus Vocal Ensemble for three seasons, touring all over the world. He lives in Minneapolis/St. Paul with his wife and two sons and holds degrees from Harding University and The University of Mississippi in Music Education and Vocal Performance.
